Ponds at Casa Rondena Winery
Based on the success of last year's Tour, the SFSC is doing it again!
The Tours are over for the 2009 Season.
For our 20th anniversary year, the SFSC is pulling out all the stops for our 2009 Culinary Tour. You are invited to join the chefs, educators and culinary professionals for what will prove to be a once in a lifetime opportunity experiencing the unique food and culture of Northern New Mexico and its capital city. For four days and nights you will be immersed in food, wine and culture. The tour includes hands-on involvement, behind the scenes access and one-on-one time with the passionate members of our community who have made food, wine and hospitality their life's work.
Day 1 (Tuesday, September 1, 2009) begins in the late afternoon at the internationally acclaimed SFSC where we will meet and greet other participants while being enlightened about the Rio Grande Valley's ancient culinary and agrarian roots and it's present world class cuisine. Food will be paired with wines from of the oldest grape growing region in North America.

Casa Redena Winery
To conclude this action packed day, dinner will be at La Cantina which serves classic northern New Mexican cuisine while being entertained by Santa Fe's brightest talent performing jazz and musical revues of the Best of Broadway.
On Day 3 (Thursday, September 3rd), join our culinary director, Rocky Durham, to learn about chile, their use, types, and how to handle them safely. Don aprons and prepare red and green chile sauce which will be used in the enchilada dishes you prepare. Rocky will then navigate you through the kitchens and dining rooms of some the Santa Fe's best restaurants. While sampling food and wine, participants will meet the chefs/owners that keep The City Different on the World's dining radar.
Day 4 (Friday, September 4th) starts with a farm-to-table hands-on cooking class concluding with the lunch you have prepared. In the afternoon, you are free to shop, visit galleries or join an optional church tour of the historic downtown area for those interested in the history of the area as evidenced by the churches. A very special evening is planned for grande finale evening. Cheryl and Bill Jamison, Santa Fe's four-time James Beard award-winning authors, invite us into their historic Tesuque adobe and courtyard for a festive home-style Southwestern dinner. The landmark Smoke & Spice and The Big Book of Outdoor Cooking are among their dozen books. Their outdoor kitchen has been seen multiple times on the Food Network, and in Sunset, Western Interiors & Design, and The New Outdoor Kitchen. Over appetizers, Cheryl and Bill will entertain us with a brief presentation about outdoor cooking and their work. We'll enjoy some of their favorite dishes under the stars, weather permitting.
