New Mexican Family Class - New - $80The Santa Fe School of Cooking is excited to feature a class with recipes from Cooking with Kids, Santa Fe's award-winning program teaching children how to make healthy food choices. In our hands-on class, families can cook together, learn about some of the region's unique ingredients and have fun delving into the culinary history of New Mexican cuisine. In this class, based on Cooking with Kids' curriculum, you will prepare and then feast on black bean tostadas, tamales and red chile sauce.
Cooking with Kids grew out of the efforts by the Santa Fe Student Nutrition Advisory Council to improve school meals. In 1995, with support from the local Chefs Collaborative chapter, Cooking with Kids began as a volunteer effort in two public elementary schools in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Today, Cooking with Kids educates and empowers children in fourteen Santa Fe public schools by offering hands-on cooking classes and tastings, helping families to make healthy food choices focused on fresh, affordable foods from diverse cultural traditions.
