Eddie Daniels (eddiedanielsclarinet.net), a native New Yorker and current Santa Fean, was a good friend and an inspiration to Dave Curtis (father of DJB Director Kristen Krell and for whom DJB is named) for decades. Jazz critic Leonard Feather said of Eddie, “It is a rare event in jazz where one man can all but reinvent an instrument bringing it to a new stage of the revolution.”
Eddie began playing the clarinet at age 13 and received his Masters in Clarinet from Juilliard. Winning numerous Grammy awards and nominations, Eddie Daniels revolutionized the blend of jazz and classical.
Roger Kellaway (rogerkellaway.com) is a Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award nominated Pianist/Composer who has recorded and appeared on more than two hundred and fifty albums. He has worked with a wide range of legendary talent including Barbara Streisand, Yo-Yo Ma, Joni Mitchel, Duke Ellington, and Elvis Presley, to name a few.
Roger fell in love with the piano at the age of 7 and attended the New England Conservatory, where he studied piano, double bass, and composition. He has written and conducted twenty-nine film scores, including Barbara Streisand’s “A Star Is Born”, for which he received the Academy Award Nomination.
Eddie and Roger have recorded multiple albums together including “Duke at the Roadhouse-Live in Santa Fe” which won the Grand Prix du Jazz (Record of the Year) in 2014. The duo also won a 1988 Grammy for their album “Memos from Paradise” , and have continued to work together throughout the years.
