CULINARY CLASSES

At the Santa Fe School of Cooking, you can experience this delicious cuisine in depth, including the techniques of master chefs, the lore of the region and, of course, fabulous food.

Santa Fe’s unique cuisine is as much a part of the city’s soul as its 17-century architecture. Warm, spicy tastes and enticing aromas evoke rich cultural traditions while contemporary chefs meld native ingredients with new ideas to create a contemporary style of Southwestern fare.
Classes are offered several times a week and include menus of traditional New Mexican, Native American, Mexican, Spanish, vegetarian and contemporary Southwestern cuisine.

Most culinary classes last about three hours, including a full meal. Both hands-on classes and demonstration style classes are offered.

Our talented chefs have written cookbooks, won prestigious competitions and appeared in the pages of glossy magazines. They share one important attribute—they know how to have fun in the kitchen!

This style of class was what we originally opened with 33 years ago. These types of classes are like a ‘show’; entertaining and informative and they always end in a delicious meal that you watched the chef prepare. You follow along with the recipes while the chef shares cooking techniques, the unique food history of our regional cuisine and explains different ingredients and their uses. New Mexico has a rich food history and this is a great way to soak it all in!

BROWSE DEMONSTRATION CLASSES

We started doing this format after lots of requests. If you are a roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty type of chef, then this is a great format for you. The chef will do an overview of the menu and ingredients and then you will put on an apron and get chopping!

BROWSE HANDS-ON CLASSES

The Santa Fe School of Cooking opened with the idea to share the food, farming and cooking of Northern New Mexico with the world and that is certainly our specialty. However, many of our chefs have traveled the world and gathered their own unique expertise in different regional cuisines and styles. We like to let our chefs branch out into their own areas of interest as well or invite in a guest chef. These are special one of a kind classes that we offer less frequently than our usual repertoire, but we love to do them!
